Why We Love the Enneagram: Testimonials
Hi I’m Diane Ring, an Executive Coach and Leadership Consultant, President of Ring Results, an accredited Enneagram teacher and mentor to the Austin Young Adult Enneagram Group. I am passionate about helping Young Adults to make the most of their life by taking deliberate actions earlier than later, in the direction that they want to go in. Many adults I’ve introduced the Enneagram to, including me have said “If I only knew when I was starting out my adult life what I know now about myself, things would have likely turned out different.” Join us and discover the powerful insights the Enneagram can offer you to help you thrive on your life journey. After graduating from college and finally living on my own, I soon discovered that my personality was like a leaky raft: it kept me afloat—but with numerous costs personally, professionally, and socially. Without the Enneagram, I was unaware of the fear behind my decisions that were thwarting my development. However, with the Enneagram I have begun to untangle the complexity of personality types—and my type—in a way that is empowering, enlightening, and enriching my development into a mature adult. The Enneagram has not only helped me to understand the ways I interact with others, but the way I interact with myself; It's helped me identify my personal strengths and weakness and has helped me to better understand what does and doesn't work for me. Before the Enneagram, I would act on instinct, finding myself quickly in bad situations, stressed, and overcommitted. Frustrated with the disappointment I was causing others and myself, I didn’t understand how the best part of my personality also seemed like my biggest weakness. I couldn’t find balance and didn’t know where to look to find it. Once I began learning about the Enneagram, I developed the tools to grapple with the strengths and weakness of my personality type and embraced the importance of journey and reward of self-awareness. |
I have found the Enneagram to be of increasing value as I grow and learn more about myself and others in my life, particularly in my relationships with others. I find it is one of the most dynamic personality typing systems and allows for a lot of flexibility, particularly in behaviors. I study the Enneagram because I see its truth, not only in myself and my own self-discovery and growth, but also in the lives of those closest to me. Like the complexity of the human spirit, the Enneagram has a depth that can be continuously explored and applied to nearly every situation you find yourself in. I feel like knowledge of the Enneagram has been hugely helpful in my personal development and my ability to find true fulfillment. As I find myself at a pivotal point of growth in my career and relationships, the Enneagram has allowed me to approach my development with greater precision and awareness. With so many opportunities and changes occurring in my life I am grateful to understand my reactions and strengths in situations. Friends will ask me how I am able to see the world in such an intuitive way and I always tell them that in understanding yourself, you better understand the world around you, and therefore always find the path that’s right for you. The Enneagram has proven itself to be absolutely invaluable information in my experience. Not only has it helped me to understand my motivations in life and why I do the things I do, but it has helped me to work with and understand the other people in my life in ways I would not have been able to without this information. It has been the single most important tool I use time and time again when I'm problem solving, looking at my relationships, figuring out which direction I want to push myself, and reminding myself of my positive qualities while also highlighting areas I need to work on to be an all around healthier person. |
